Service overview

## What landscaping involves — and why it matters.

### What it is
Landscaping is the whole outdoor job, not one element of it: clearing and levelling the ground, sorting drainage and levels, laying patios, paving and paths, putting in fencing, decking and structures, then finishing with turf, artificial grass, borders and planting. We do the hard landscaping and the soft landscaping with the same crew, so nothing falls between trades.

### Who it's for
Homeowners across West Sussex with a garden that's tired, waterlogged, overgrown or simply never worked — plus landlords and property owners who need an outdoor space brought back into usable, lettable condition.

### When you need it
Year-round. Hard landscaping (paving, fencing, groundworks) carries on through winter; turf and planting are happiest in autumn and spring. If the garden is holding water, sinking or unusable, the sooner it's surveyed the cheaper the fix.

### Why professional help matters
Most garden failures in West Sussex come from what happens before anything visible is laid — levels not set, water with nowhere to go, sub-base cut short. Get the groundworks and drainage right and everything on top lasts. Get them wrong and you're paying twice.

What happens if you delay

## The cost of getting this wrong.
A garden rarely fails because of the slabs, the fence panels or the turf. It fails underneath, where nobody looks.

### Risks of ignoring it

- Water running towards the house instead of away from it, bridging the damp course.
- Lawns that sit as mud all winter because the ground was never drained or broken up.
- Paving sinking in patches where the sub-base was thinned out to save a few hundred pounds.
- Fence posts heaving out of soft, wet ground within two seasons.
- Half-finished gardens where one trade left and the next never turned up.

### Common mistakes

- Splitting the job across separate trades with nobody owning the levels.
- Turfing or paving over ground that was never cleared, dug out and compacted.
- Treating drainage as an optional extra rather than the first decision.
- Picking the cheapest quote without asking what depth of sub-base it's based on.

Our process

## How we deliver landscaping — step by step.

- 01
### Free site visit & survey

We walk the garden with you, check levels, drainage, access and ground conditions, and talk through how you actually want to use the space. Every landscaping job is priced after we've seen it — never blind over the phone.

- 02
### Free written quote

Back to you the same or next day, itemised by stage so you can see exactly what's included: clearance, groundworks, drainage, hard landscaping, soft landscaping and finishes.

- 03
### Clearance & groundworks

Old surfaces, stumps, rubble and spoil removed and disposed of. Ground dug out to depth, levels set, falls established and sub-base compacted in layers.

- 04
### Drainage & hard landscaping

Drainage, soakaways or channel drains where the survey calls for them, then paving, patios, paths, steps, edgings, retaining walls, fencing and any structures.

- 05
### Soft landscaping & planting

Topsoil, turf or artificial grass, borders, bark, gravel and planting — the layer that makes the garden feel finished rather than built.

- 06
### Snag, clean-down & guarantee

Site cleared and jet-washed, walk-round with you, aftercare talked through, and a 12-month workmanship guarantee at handover.

Benefits

## Why homeowners across West Sussex choose us for landscaping.

### One team, start to finish

Groundworks, paving, fencing, decking, turf and planting from the same crew — no coordinating four trades and no gaps between them.

### Levels and drainage first

Water and levels are settled before anything is laid, which is exactly why properly built gardens outlast cheap ones.

### Owner-led on every job

Connor is on site with a hands-on crew of 2–4. You always know who's in your garden and who to speak to.

### Hard and soft in one quote

Patio, path, fence and lawn priced together, in the right order, with no surprise extras when the next stage starts.

### Fully insured, fully guaranteed

£5m public liability and £5m employers' liability, plus a 12-month workmanship guarantee on everything we install.

### Priced after we see it

Free survey, free written quote same or next day. No fixed prices online — every garden is different, and honest pricing needs eyes on the ground.

Specification & detail

## The detail behind a landscaping job done properly.
Materials, methods and variations — what actually goes into a long-lasting build.

### Clearance, groundworks and levels
Every landscaping project starts with strip-out: old paving, decking, stumps, rubble and overgrowth cleared and taken away. Ground is then dug out to the correct depth for whatever is going on top, levels set against the house and boundaries, and falls run away from the building. Sub-base is laid and compacted in layers rather than one deep dump — the difference between a surface that holds and one that dips.

### Drainage on West Sussex ground
Much of the coastal strip around Littlehampton sits on heavy, slow-draining ground with a high water table close to the shore. Where the survey shows it, we build in channel drains at the house wall, soakaways, land drains or permeable finishes so surface water is dealt with properly instead of pooling against the property.

### Hard landscaping
Porcelain, sandstone, granite and block paving patios, driveways, paths and steps; brick and sleeper retaining walls; edgings and mowing strips; closeboard, feather-edge and panel fencing; decking and garden structures. All laid on the right base, bedded properly and jointed with the correct compound.

### Soft landscaping and planting
Quality topsoil, cultivated turf or premium artificial grass, shaped borders, bark and gravel finishes, and planting chosen for coastal exposure and salt-laden wind where the garden needs it. We'll be straight with you about what will and won't cope in an exposed West Sussex plot.

### Coastal and exposed gardens
Gardens near the seafront take a battering: salt spray, wind loading on fencing and structures, and sandy, free-draining soil in places and clay in others. Post depths, fixings, timber treatment and planting choices all get adjusted for exposure rather than treated as standard.

### Phased projects
Not every garden has to be done in one hit. Where budget or timing calls for it, we'll phase the work — groundworks and hard landscaping first, soft landscaping later — and set the levels so the later stages drop straight in without rework.

How much does landscaping cost in West Sussex?+Every garden is quoted after we've seen it. Cost depends on size, access, how much clearance and groundworks are needed, drainage, and the mix of hard and soft landscaping. We don't publish fixed prices because they'd be meaningless — the free written quote comes back the same or next day after the visit.

Do you do both hard and soft landscaping?+Yes. Groundworks, drainage, paving, fencing, decking and structures on the hard side; topsoil, turf, artificial grass, borders and planting on the soft side. Same crew, one quote.

How long does a full garden landscaping job take?+Small courtyards can be a few days. A typical rear-garden transformation runs one to three weeks depending on clearance, groundworks and weather. We give you an honest timescale with the quote and tell you if it slips.

Can you fix a garden that floods or holds water?+Usually, yes — that's a levels and drainage problem, and it's the first thing we survey. Depending on what we find, the fix might be re-graded falls, a channel drain, a soakaway, land drains or a permeable surface.

Do you clear the garden and take the waste away?+Yes. Strip-out, spoil and green waste removal and disposal are included in the quote — you won't be left with a pile of rubble at the end.

Do I need planning permission for landscaping work?+Most domestic landscaping doesn't need it, but listed buildings, conservation areas, tall boundary structures and some front-garden hard surfacing do. We flag anything worth a planning enquiry before we quote.

Can you work around an existing garden I want to keep parts of?+Absolutely — plenty of jobs are partial. We'll protect what's staying, tie new levels into it, and be honest if something you want to keep is going to undermine the new work.

Do you landscape for landlords and commercial properties?+Yes — rental turnarounds, communal areas and small commercial grounds as well as private gardens across Littlehampton and West Sussex.

Are you insured for landscaping work in West Sussex?+Yes — £5m public liability and £5m employers' liability insurance. We'll happily share the certificate before you sign. Every job comes with a 12-month workmanship guarantee. If something's down to our work, we'll come back and put it right. What it can't cover is the stuff outside our control once we've packed up and gone (like a slab getting chipped by a dropped plant pot). If it's our workmanship, it's covered.

Do you give written quotes for landscaping?+Yes. We price every landscaping job after seeing it — either an in-person visit or photos with accurate measurements. Quotes are free and back to you the same or next day. We don't publish fixed prices online because every job is different.

How do I pay?+Cash or bank transfer. A small booking fee (around £50) holds your spot in the diary. A 50% deposit is due about a week before we start, with the remaining 50% on completion. No large upfront deposit.

Are you open at weekends?+Yes — we're open 7 days a week and respond same day, whichever day you call.

How quickly can you start a landscaping project?+Landscaping work is typically scheduled within a few weeks of accepting the quote, sometimes sooner for smaller jobs. We work year-round.

Do you work outside Littlehampton?+Yes — we regularly work in Worthing, Angmering, Chichester, Lancing, Rustington, East Preston, Brighton and the wider West Sussex. Postcode confirms eligibility in seconds on the phone.
